Pensacola to Jacksonville, Florida on Interstate 10 – My Groundhog Day Experience!

Do you remember that movie Groundhog Day with Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell?  The one where he keeps waking up each morning just to repeat the same day over and over again?  I make the drive from Pensacola to Jacksonville, Florida two or three times a year and every time I make the drive I feel like I am in my own personal Groundhog Day movie.

For awhile you are driving on a two lane Interstate 10 and you can see the cars driving the opposite direction.

Then your two lanes separate from the other two lanes.  These trees are especially important to pay attention to because you will almost always see a highway patrol car behind them!

road4 (Medium)

Then the road opens back up again so that you are driving next to the lanes.  Again.  And then it splits.  Again.

road2 (Medium)

Then you might see a bridge.

The road splits.  Again.

You do drive over the Historic Suwanee River.  I especially like the music notes on the sign!

Even the exits look the same.

Exit 142

Exit 192

Exit 241

If it is summertime, be prepared for weather that could probably be classified as a hurricane.

But if you wait it out, you will get a beautiful sky.

I can almost feel myself drifting off to sleep just looking at all that sameness ;)

Having made that drive many, many times it seemed all too familiar….very funny post!

This is a cool post. Funny that looking at your pictures I thought about my trip down from Atlanta to Orlando..

I have the same feeling on I-75 from Atlanta to Orlando. :) I think it’s something in FL that they tend to be so cookie cutter.

Very funny indeed. It reminds me of driving across Texas – never ending!

    Nancy-:-)
Debbie-It is difficult coming up with things for the kids to spot in I Spy–only so many times will a 4yo point out the green tree! :-) The good thing is that they usually drift to sleep as well!
Lucia-It is quite a drive isn’t it?!?! And I wanted to thank you for directing me to PitStopsForKids…what a great site. I submitted my review! Thanks!
Amy-I-75 does look the same as well! Now, ATL to I-75 is everchanging if I remember correctly….at least 65 is, which is the way that we go to get to ATL.
Beth-I have driven the Texas drive a few times also…less trees, more dirt! :-)

Hope the sleep-making drive was worth it when you got to wherever you were going

Very funny post. It reminds me a lot of driving here in Canada. I always enjoy crossing into the States because you have so many things to look at. When we go on a road trip here, things are few and far between.
P.S. I love Ground Hog Day. Every time it is on, I can’t help myself and I watch. Too much fun

I do a long drive to my parent’s house several times a year, and know the feeling well. I look forward to an addendum post of the little passengers with the backseat view.

I think Interstates all over the country look the same…these photos could have easily have been taken along I-75 in Michigan during that 6-hour trek to the Mackinac Bridge during the summer!

Reminds us all why we like the smaller highways instead.

This is a very fun concept for a post. Sometimes I find the sameness soothing myself. There is definately a part of the I-5 here in Carlsbad that inspires the same sort of reverie.
