Yellow River Marsh Preserve State Park

A few weeks ago we took a walk through the Yellow River Marsh State Park in Milton, Florida, which is home to hundreds of pitcher plants in bloom. Pitcher plants are carnivorous plants. Like the Venus Fly Trap, they “eat” insects. You can read my review of Yellow River Marsh State Park at Pensacola with Kids. For today, Photo Friday, I wanted to share pictures of the pitcher plants.

How weird! These are identical to the pitcher plants we saw in Virachey National Park, Cambodia. Right down to the mottlings.

    I posted a pic here: http://travelswithanineyearold.com/2010/02/05/poachers-and-gamekeepers-2/

Do you reckon they are S-E Asian natives come to America, or American natives come to South-East Asia?

I’ve never seen these around here…they do look pretty, though…in spite of their, um, appetite!
