The Great Smoky Mountains

Everytime we drive through the Smokies, I am amazed by the misty “smoke” that inspired the mountain’s name. It is always there, whether we are driving through the mountains in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

Beautiful! I wonder what causes that smokey look?
I’d love to see more images of the mountains!
Jen, we love the Smoky Mountains – truly a perfect place for a family vacation.
I never thought twice about why they were called the “smokies” thanks for sharing!
I never thought about the name, either, but it makes total sense after seen your photos and explanation.
They do have that hazy look and I’m also wondering where it comes from – I assume that it’s not a recent thing – I’d hate to think it was polution related
