Spotted in LEGOLAND Florida
When you walk around LEGOLAND Florida, you will spot lots of figures made from LEGO bricks. The kids love spotting them everywhere they turned.

A few weeks ago, we attended the Navarre Sand Sculpting Festival. We actually have a sand sculpting festival in Pensacola but I always have a reason not to go…too hot, too much to do, too crowded, and so on.
While in Navarre, we stayed in a beautiful condo just a few steps away from the sand sculptures. This made it very easy to check out the sculptures throughout the weekend and see them as they progressed from piles of sands to intricate works of art. The “Before” pictures were taken a day after the festival and contest began. The “Almost Complete” pictures were taken just a few hours before the festival and contest ended.

Have you seen Sand Masters on the Travel Channel? This past weekend, I had the opportunity to meet the sculptors at Navarre’s Sand Sculpting Festival. They sculpted a beautiful sculpture representing Santa Rosa County. There was also a competition and some other activities which I will post about later. For Photo Friday, I wanted to share pictures of the amazing sculpture!

By far, my favorite part of our trip to Callaway Gardens was the Butterfly House. The butterflies floated around in the sun and we sat mesmerized for almost an hour.

This weekend I am remembering the events of September 11th and all the events that occurred afterwards. I don’t have any words of wisdom to share on this somber weekend of remembrance.
Instead I share a photo from the USS Arizona Memorial in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Visiting the memorial of the USS Arizona is a moving experience. While we stood on the platform floating in the middle of the harbor, everyone on that trip took a few quiet moments to look up at this flag. It was such a quiet moment that the only thing you could hear was the flapping of the flag in the wind and the water lapping against the platform.
Although the events of Pearl Harbor happened many years before 9/11, as I stood there watching that flag and reflecting on what it means for me, my family, and the people standing around me, I couldn’t help but think of other events in our history and other flags that are flying all over the United States.

Although their Jedi Training at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios got rained out before they could even yield a light saber, the disappointment was quickly wiped off of their faces when they found out they were going to meet Darth Vader and his Storm Trooper anyway!

When my husband and I were in Hawaii, we would take pictures of different things we saw and text them to the grandparents. They would share them with our kids and it gave us a chance to share what we were doing even though our kids weren’t with us. My son loved the turtles that we saw, but my daughter favored the pink pineapples!

The mystery of the ocean and its sealife never ceases to amaze me. I hope that my children never lose that sense of wonder, either.

We don’t wait in line to meet the characters while we are at Disney World. Call me a bad mom but I just can’t stand waiting in line to snap a picture and get an autograph while we are missing rides and shows. I don’t think my kids are really all that interested either. If they are desperate to meet characters, I would rather set up a character dining experience. That being said, while we were at Disney at the beginning of the month, we met two different characters. We were walking by this friend just as he arrived so there was no line. The boy cousins thought the meeting was hilarious!

At least on our Disney trips! This was a picture I snapped while we were running from one indoor ride to another because it rained and rained for about an hour. We packed the dollar ponchos as our insurance policy to keep the rain away. Unfortunately, we had to use them!
